Seat Cover Insert Options Defined:
GRIPTEX – Because of its high texture, deep depressions and reduced surface area, GRIPTEX (also known as basket weave) is perceived as being a cooler surface in hot weather. While many people like the textured feel and look of the material, extra care may be needed during cleaning to get down into the “grooves”. Even though the material is completely water-proof, these “grooves” on the surface can temporarily trap water, making the surface a little more difficult to dry.
NOTE: The name "GRIPTEX" is not meant to imply a "grippy" surface. While GRIPTEX is textured, the general finish of the material is comparable to most stock materials. With some fabrics, such as nylon-coated materials, GRIPTEX may seem slicker initially until it breaks in.
CarbonFX – This material offers some of the appealing texture of GRIPTEX but without the cleaning or surface water issues. This is a heavy-duty, high performance material offering a fresh sporty look.
Allante’ (trim) - This material is our standard trim grade “leather look” vinyl used as trim (sides) on all World Sport Seats. GRIPTEX, CarbonFX and Allante’ are all premium quality vinyl products designed for maximum durability with little or no special maintenance requirements.
Leather – There are many important issues to consider with regard to leather. While we don’t typically recommend real leather, we offer leather options because many people have had positive experiences in the past with leather, and are aware of its many issues. Seats covered in leather can feel harder because the leather does not stretch like synthetic products. You should expect real leather to show wear very quickly as it breaks in. Leather can also interfere with the foam suspension as it cycles through wet and dry conditions. This wet / dry cycling can cause a tightening or shrinking of the leather over time, resulting in the seat becoming too hard. For this reason, it is advised to keep leather maintained with specially designed leather conditioners, cleaners and water proofing treatments. Our Daytona Leather has a special perforated design that allows for added stretch while offering a distinctively sporty look.
